A musical performance where everyday sounds blend with melodies to create a truly mechanical poetry
Sunday morning at a yard sale, two curious junk dealers are looking to get rid of the clutter from their family home.
Mechanical poems and sonatas will be offered to the public, who will be surprised to discover true virtuosos in these secondhand dealers.
Introduction
One morning at a flea market, two quirky antique dealers are trying to get rid of the clutter from their family home. These exceptional sellers are looking for buyers for their multitude of whimsical and eccentric objects. They present, they comment, they operate the treasures of inventions made using everyday objects and recycled materials.
As the show progresses, objects transform into instruments, peddlers into conductors, and this grand unpacking soon forms an imaginary conservatory with surprising and varied sounds.
This musical performance explores the theme of recycling and our society's relationship with objects. In an era where overconsumption is central to our practices, this approach offers the audience a fresh perspective on the environment. The Conservatory of Instrumental Mechanics raises awareness among young audiences about recycling our old everyday objects to create new ones. Every common object is a potential instrument to listen to, to make resonate, to share, or to teach.
It also allows them to be introduced to other forms of art, centered around feeling and spontaneity.
*Option to lead workshops on wild instrument making and sound painting in addition to the show
