Ouïe Chef

Sound awareness performance and hearing risk education show for children

! Ouïe Chef ! is both a young audience show and a prevention tool.

Focusing on sound, listening, and how the ear works, this interactive performance is built around a “sound kitchen” for one musician and one actor.

Introduction

Chef Bernard and his assistant Henri offer a wide range of “sound dishes” to illustrate different musical styles, how sound works, and how the ear functions. Using a kitchen-instrumentarium, children are invited to rediscover their sound environment. Leeks, cabbages and potatoes are transformed into ears, the table into an electric guitar, and saucepans into speakers.

At a time of excessive sound consumption, Bernard and Henri prepare auditory delicacies, encouraging the audience to reflect on their own “sound cuisine.” This educational and humorous show invites reflection on our habits and how to manage daily sound exposure in order to preserve a precious long-term resource.
